I believe that "daily bread" in the Lord's Prayer is a metaphor for any food needed to sustain us. Be it rice, wheat, corn or the fatted calf. But I do like to bake bread and I am quite thankful that I have the ability to make it for our family. This last week or so I have made a variety of breads and some are new to my kitchen. I also set up my "new" baking center. The cabinet or hutch has been in our family for many many decades. My Dad's Aunt Lola had it and then my Cousin Bev and now my family. I have only cleaned the cabinet. I will not try to restore it to original. Although the very top has never been painted and it is beautiful, I only remember it painted. the breads I made this week are: English Cottage Milk Bread, Scones with Raspberries and Fresh Mint, No Knead Cinnamon Raisin Bread and Caramelized Onion Baguettes.
I pray that you and your family have your "Daily Bread" and hope this pandemic is over soon! Maybe then we can share a loaf of bread.
